Third Annual Safe Kids Day A Tremendous Success The third annual Safe Kids Day was a tremendous success! Hundreds of children and parents came out to receive valuable information on health and safety from over 35 presenters. There were emergency vehicles, a K-9 Unit demonstration, a moon-bounce, clowns and great music! This year we partnered with the Bon Secours Health Center in Virginia Beach to help share their one-year anniversarywith them. To help them celebrate, we moved the location of Safe Kids Day to their new Medical Center off South Plaza Trail, at 828 Health Way. Their new facility was perfect for all of the fun, games, music and more to promote the safety and health of our children. Visit www.safekidsday.org to find out more! Iaquinto Named to Two Important Commissions
Delegate Sal Iaquinto was appointed to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Commission and the Commission on the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP). The mission of the VASAP Commission is to improve highway safety by decreasing the incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, leading to the reduction of alcohol and drug-related fatalities and crashes. VASAP has developed many educational programs to help reach this goal, including an Aggressive Driver Program, Habitual Offender Program, Young Offender Program, Relapse Prevention Education and a Victim Impact Panel. "I am very pleased to have been chosen to serve on this Commission," said Iaquinto, "The work of VASAP will greatly benefit the Commonwealth and Hampton Roads, by helping to decrease crime, lower the rates of accidents and ultimately make our streets safer." Appointment to such important commissions is rare for freshmen. "I'm excited about having the opportunity to make a difference through these appointments," said Iaquinto. Iaquinto Named to Speaker's Safety Task Force "I am honored that the Speaker would choose me for such an important task force," said Iaquinto. "I look forward to working with the other members to develop strategies and future legislation to keep our streets safer. I know this issue is of the utmost concern to our families in Virginia Beach and throughout the Commonwealth, and I will put every effort into making this task force a success." |
